Right now I'm in the process of writing a trial resume for one of my classes. The thing is that I've never had a job before--so I can't rely on past job references. Under Activities, I can list my membership in certain organizations, and I can list my helping to run certain organizations, but it basically implies that I'm gender-variant, genderqueer or transgender. That in itself probably implies that I'm physically male, as I normally pass as a woman.

From my time spent in genderqueer support groups, I notice that most of the people there are without jobs. Some people get jobs, but then they come out as genderqueer and lose them. My SO doesn't want me to come out in the job interview. I don't really want to have to come out in the job interview.

I could just not say what organizations I've been in, and say I led a number of "student organizations", but this leaves a gaping hole in my resume...it's not like I don't have interests, it *is* like I have interests for which I'd be discriminated against--and this is on more than one front.

What strategies have people used to try and get around this problem?
