Twice in two days, I've had to deal with some "That's so gay" type comments. I know why these comments are so offensive...they equate whatever they think is 'gay' is really lame or stupid or whatever negative adjective you can attach to something, and in the process, puts down gay and lesbian people, and, by extension, trans identified people, since we're one and the same to a homophobe. Usually, when I object, I am confronted with an "it's just an expression" type excuse. Not much of an excuse, and it shouldn't matter whether I'm trans, gay, lesbian or whatever if I find the comment offensive. Does anybody have a better way of putting this into words that I can retort to the clowns using this nasty expression?

It's only been a little more than a week since I posted asking for naming advice. Feels like a lot longer. Maybe it's because of all the thinking I've been doing on the topic. Fortunately, I think it's paid off.

I found my name...

(Long rambly post behind the fake cut...)

*Sorry if the fake cuts bother people. I just hate cross-posting things. Thanks for your time if you read through all of it!

I just want to thank whoever it was that gave me the job leads in Boston a few weeks back. I just had an interview yesterday with quite possibly the coolest company I've ever seen who are not only interested in hiring me, but have a very great policy on gender identity. If I end up moving up there, I'm totally going to give you a giant hug :3

(To people not familiar with the situation, I've been trying to leave my city because of a bunch of intolerant things people have done to me. I asked a few months ago for job leads, and a few members of the group here told me of some. Thank you!)

So if anyone else knows of any trans-friendly companies that are hiring, please let me know :D

WHAT: Pride in the Park
WHEN: Aug 26 (Saturday)
WHERE: Bandemer Park, Ann Arbor, Michigan
TIME: 12-6

More details can be found at www.transgendermichigan.org

So, whatever it may end up costing me, I am going to be out to my potential employers as I job search. I'm not quite passable, or at least I can't keep it up everyday. So I am thinking job interview clothes should be nice women's clothing that is kind of androgynous. I'm not sure. What do you think? What is a good sort of thing for a tranny to wear to a job interview?

By the way, I'm trying for something in the video production field, so being in a creative area gives me a little leeway for eccentricity. But I still need to ome off as respectable. I might also be applying to less professional work if the opportunities aren't showing up.
