Okay, so we all may or may not be tired of hearing about ENDA and the HRC's virtual abandonment of the T in GLBT. We may or may not still be outraged by it. However, I've noticed a lot of people are pretty disappointed and disillusioned when it comes to the so-called Human Rights Campaign. So I had an idea.

I thought about opening a Cafe Press shop selling items with messages (like this) expressing our disappointment in the HRC. As you may or may not know, Cafe Press shops are basically free, but of course Cafe Press gets their cut of the sales. All other profits go to the shop owner. I really don't feel right profiting off of this kind of thing, so what I would like to ask of all of you is names of preferably national organizations that better serve the ENTIRE queer community that I could donate the profits of sales to.

Also, I suppose I'd like opinions on whether or not you think this is a good idea and whether or not you've heard of somebody else doing something like this.

So please comment. I'd really like quick feedback if I'm actually going to do this.

Cross-posted every-freakin'-where. Sorry if you see this multiple times (if you get annoyed by that sort of thing).

Feel it ties in with the existing debate on the term 'Transgender' and Gender Queer/Transgender..... I personaly dislike it as it implies something is 'wrong'.......I don't belive there is anything 'wrong' with me. I am a naturaly occurring variant, at variance with the majority in terms of some feelings and expression...but not necessarily in a negative way... I don't view it as a 'disorder'.....and feel it reinforces rather than negate's Gender Boundaries and stereotypes. Society deems it a disorder...or negative..I don't....

This comes to mind as there was a caller on Irish radio last week saying that her 6 year old son had asked for fake nails and girls boots for xmas...that he had told her several times that he would rather be a girl. She asked 'what should she do?'. She was advised to allow her son to wear such when at home but that due to fear of ridicule or bullying that it would be best not to permit it socially. That perhaps when he get's older he may learn to handle society better and then express himself. The Psychologist said that it is "possible but not definite that you rchild could have Gender Identity Disorder'.... Quite a compassionate Psychologist actually..didn't say the child or his beahvior was wrong..just that it would be hard for him....and the mother seemed ok... I suppose Gender Identity Disorder is an established medical term...but in terms of truly recognising the diveristy of human expression I feel that it has a negative influence.

Of course everyone's experience is different..and no doubt some feel it is appropriate for them...but I don't really enjoy it myself

Hope all are well

hey, this is formally [profile] genocideboy
i decided to switch to a name that didn't imply destruction and badness.
so, if you were a friend of [profile] genocideboy ,delete it and add this one.

thanks.

also, i'm closer and closer to getting my chest reconstruction surgery; letters from my gp and psychiatrist have been sent to the surgeon, and if she refuses, it's easy enough to send me to another province (and still have it covered by mcp).

awesome.

I was playing with the Trine, coming up with other color schemes. Posted four of them in a poll in my journal.

What do you think?

(I want a cloisonné pin I can stick on my purse; since I need to order a bunch, looking for colors others would like, too)
