Okay, I know many of you in this group have been bashed just as I have, and being very religious myself, I have had to deal with many people in the church who have come to the conclusion that their view of the bible is the accurate and correct version. Today I just had a friend, who has known about me being TS for a while now, tell me that what I was doing is wrong but that she still wanted to be my friend. When asked what she thought was wrong about it or where in the bible does it point out that it is wrong she said this:
Warning: My comments will be based on my own Christian perspective and thoughts to other Christian's TS bashing
After telling her how horrible it was that she had the gall to view me as sinnful based on what others said about the bible she came back with the all to familiar "I just think what you are doing is wrong because you are changing what God has made you and God has made you a guy but you think you are a girl and so you are changing yourself to that. I just think that you should be happy with what God has given you." It always flabberghasts me how blind some people can be, even elders and religious leaders try to use this excuse, though If they do indeed believe what they are saying, than Jesus is infact a sinnfull man going against his fathers wishes. There are many people who are born blind, according to this way of thinking, GOD WANTED THEM TO BE BLIND, otherwise they wouldn't be. What did Jesus do when the blind people approached him? He healed them by the masses...If God intended for them to be blind all along than wouldn't Jesus therefore be going against Gods plan for their life. Not just the blind, but the deaf, dumb, and lame. Another variation of that argument is using the verse that God knew your form even before birth, that he created us perfectly. I have two thoughts on this:
1) I don't believe that passage is refering to our physical body, I feel that it speaks more of the gifts, natural talents and early personality traits that stay with us throughout life.
2) Again, if those blind/lame people were created perfectly by God in their physical form, then why would they need healing from Jesus?
They all had faith that they would be healed from their birthdefects and illnesses, just as I have faith that God will help me cure my GID...just not in the way conservatists believe he will. ^_^ I don't know how many of you have seen the movie Bruce Almighty , but the main quote that rings true is "Be the Mircale." I don't think God like having lazy followers who won't do anything for themselves because they expect God to do everything for them.
I have also heard from an elder that I am "Running away from those that love you." I think that statement would apply to the great majority of us who were not accepted by our parents and were FORCED to leave if ever we wanted to escape our life of pain and suffering. We are not running away, they have slammed the doors in our face until we change something that is impossible for us to change. Running away? Hardly.
Even though it is in the old testament and doesn't apply to the new deal we have in Christ, people like to use the "A man shall not wear womens clothing" passage. Their version of man is completely subjective as God views me as a woman because he knows my spirit while they JUDGE me as a man because of my body( A shell that rots and disappears)
redflower1511: well technically i have not read the whole bible yet
