Jan. 27th, 2004 07:43 pmI want to get the ball rolling on my starting T etc. I am not currently out to my parents but want to come out to them by the end of this year. I do not know what their reaction will be but I do not think it will be good and I don't want to have to deal with them at work. I'm not sure how to approach the whole trans thing when finding a new job. I know I would have some legal protection in Chicago now with a new job but I'm not sure how much I trust that. I'd rather put it out there in the beginning before I am hired. Do I put it on my resume'? My name has not been legally changed although I do go by a shortened version of my full name which is not in the least bit a male name. When I do change my name which hopefully will be in the next year, I am just going to change it to the legal male full name version of my name. If you were wondering I go by Mel but will be changing my name legally yo Melvin. I do look pretty male except for my higher voice and lack of facial hair does not always let me pass the way I would like to. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any ideas? I want to be out at my next job because I am planning on transitioning at work plus it will really relieve some of my stress to be who I am at a place where I spend 8 hours of my day. I am too old and have too many expenses now in my life to not have a job plus I have to have insurance of some kind. I don't know how to approach the trans thing when finding a job and any suggestions and or experiences will be appreciated. Thanks. I need to find a new job so I can get this whole ball of wax rolling.
