I watched a special on Discovery Health called "Transgendered Teens" yesterday.

I had recorded it from it's previous airing. But did anybody else see it?

It was so ridiculous that I just wanted to throw stuff at the TV. It focused on two girls. One was 18 living at home and supportive by her family. The other was rejected by her family and now living as a prostitute on Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles. As the show started, it introduced each girl (yes... mtf) equally, but as the show progressed it mainly overwhelmingly portrayed the girl living on the streets in Los Angeles. It went into her entire lifestyle as a prostitute and THEN some. The LA girl happened to be trans, but it didn't expand on the trans element of her at all. Dood!! The special should have been about prostitutes NOT transgenderism judging by how much they talked about it. I almost felt sorry for the girl living at home because she was such a shy homely girl and here she was being featured on a program that was giving a really bad name to transgendered teens. After having a huge amount of airtime about being a hooker, it would then cut back to the shy girl and feature her for about 3 minutes then go back to talking about prostituting. It was just BAD and kind of made me feel sick because in some sort of fashion down the road... that show reflects on me. Bottom line to me is that if you are going to do a show on transgenders, please let it be about transgenders and not about life as a prostitute.
