transThis is a special invitation to all FTM's by the Rev. Jim Hawks of Nashville.
Over the past five years, I have been privileged to be
the coordinator for Dick Dialogues – a Gay & Bisexual
Men's Weekend. We have created a wonderful weekend
that is welcoming, life-enriching, and a lot of fun. I
am writing to solicit your assistance.
One of our core values is to bring together gay and
bisexual men from all walks of life. Dick Dialogues is
really a dialogue between men about our life
experiences and visions for community. We believe that
the more diverse the participants, the richer our
experience and wisdom will be.
This year, I would especially like to begin recruiting
Female-to-Males, who identify as a gay or bisexual
males, to participate in the weekend. In fact, I would
love to have at least 4-5 F2M's join us this year.
Roughly 2/3 of our alumni return each year. This would
be an excellent number to set as a beginning goal.
I am hoping to enlist your help in providing me with
contacts (or at least helping to spread the word). If
there is anyone you know of that would be a potential
recruit, I would love to meet with him and discover if
the weekend is of interest to him (or at least learn
why it might not be appealing). Can you help?
As a beginning, there are several things that we are
willing to do to encourage participation. First, we
are willing to provide partial--even
full--scholarships to make this happen. Second, we
would be delighted to have discussions specifically
focused on trans-male issues and how trans and
non-trans can support one another. Third, at least one
of our featured films (we only have 4) could be
focused on F2M issues. Fourth, if preferred by F2M's
we are willing to set aside a separate cabin. This
would only be at their request as we would rather
everyone be together. Finally, we would be pleased to
have interested F2M help plan the entire weekend. We
are very open to making Dick Dialogues a welcoming and
affirming experience for F2M's, and to enrich our
lives.
Well, I don't know what else to say. If you are
willing to help, I would love to talk more with you or
anybody that would help expand the dialogues. Thank
