Questions on dilating

Hi there,

After a rather long journey I am finally post-op by less than a week. However I wanted to ask a question about dilation, as this is all a little mystery to me, and I am having a few problems based no doubt on the fact that the donor material was circumcised and very very small.

I had my surgery in Brighton and the surgeon was Mr Thomas. As part of the dilation kit they gave me two dilators, one slightly bigger than the other. The bigger looks about right sized to make penetrative sex eventually possible, but the smaller one looks a little on the small size (probably why there are two). I can get the small one in no problems to the full depth, and it doesn't hurt at all to push it firmly against the bottom for ten/fifteen minutes. It goes in between 3.5 and 4 inches. However the larger one only reaches to about 2 inches or so before it just stops. If I push on it firmly the pain is excrutiating and it just won't go. I've tried wriggling my pelvis gently, applying more lube and even taking painkillers but no joy. Feeling inside the vagina, there are no problems (the surgeon confirmed this in a check this morning just before I was discharged) but I can feel that the vaginal passage meanders a bit. At the two inch mark there is a ring, for want of a better discription, that I guess is the pelvic muscle and on which it is likely the dilator is stopping.

My question is, is this normal relatively recent post-op to struggle getting the larger dilators in? Will it come over time as long as I work at it? Although I am not able to break the pain barrier before anyone suggests a mallet ;) Is there anything that might help such as muscle relaxent (I thought Gin and Tonics might be good in this area...) or slightly flexible dilators if such a thing exists?
