Finding a PCP and Endocrinologist
Jul. 18th, 2006 07:57 pmMy therapist couldn't recommend a primary care physician or endocrinologist. I tried the support group and the doctor they suggested isn't on my insurance. I have United Healthcare btw. So I'm stuck on my own with this unless someone in the Hammond, New Orleans, or Baton Rouge area can help me out.
How could I go about finding a PCP/endocrinologist that's trans-friendly? What questions can I ask to find out if they are friendly and experienced with everything? I doubt the receptionist will know much but I can't ask to speak with the doctor can I?
Also what exactly do I need to do? I want to get everything ready in 9 weeks when I get my letter for HRT. I read some places require bloodwork? How do I get that done? I've only been to a doctor once in the past 15 years and that was about 4 years ago and it was a bad experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Crossposted to
