Kate Bornstein is coming to George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Kate Bornstein's coming back to Mason! Kate Bornstein - author, activist, playwright, performance artist, and self-proclaimed gender outlaw whose work has evolved from gender theory to harm reduction. Author of Gender Outlaw, and My Gender Workbook, two classics in gender and transgender studies, Kate's most recent book, (July 2006), is Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks and Other Outlaws.

Bornstein's performance/lecture is entitled Hello Cruel Desire: Enjoying Sex, Desire, and Identity in a Sex Negative Culture is free on Tuesday, October 17, 4:30 pm in the Johnson Center Cinema. No prior registration needed.

Kate offers this performance, "because sometimes whatever it is that gives you the most joy, pleasure or relief in life also gets you into the most trouble. Like when you love someone you're not supposed to love. Or when the way you express yourself makes other people queasy or downright antagonistic. Well, there are lots of ways to hold your head high as an outlaw in this world."
