Master's Project on Transgender Issues

transI'm a graduate student at the Columbia School of Journalism, and I'm working on a Master's Project that focuses on transgender issues. Specifically, I want to explore the impact of how one's experiences of being transgendered/transitioning can differ depending on their age or generation.
I recognize that everyone's experiences are different, which is why I want to get as many people's perspectives as possible for the project. I'm of course interviewing official sources and doing research, but at its core this is a story about people. I'd really like your help in writing a piece that debunks myths and offers a nuanced look at many of the issues discussed in this community.
I'm primarily looking for people in New York (because that's where I'm based), but I'd be happy to correspond with people in other areas by phone or via e-mail. I'd particularly like to hear from people in rural or conservative communities because they face a different set of issues than they would in large cities.
