Please delete this if it isn't appropriate. I'm in a bit of a bind--my semi-famous interviewee flaked out on me last minute and I am supposed to have this done by midnight tonight. It's for a zine--a final project--and I was supposed to either A) interview a "famous" local activist or B)interview (by email or in person) several students, professors, and/or laypeople interested in the intersection between gender and sexuality. If any of you could answer these questions and either reply on here, or email your answers to calculatedeccentricity@yahoo.com, however in depth or brief they may be, I will be forever grateful. I will format and neither take out of context nor edit unless you give me specific directions to do so.

Thanks for reading,

Gender & Sexualities Interview

1.

In your opinion, how is gender related or unrelated to sexuality? How does the average layperson relate gender and sexuality (consciously or unconsciously) and do feel that this relation is a problem?

2. Do sex-workers rights (or lack thereof) affect the gbltqq population disproportionately? Do you think sex-workers rights have come into public consciousness? Why or why not?

3. What are your feelings on project RED (http://www.joinred.com/), and do you think that it is taking the focus off the growing population of youth and people of color with hiv/aids living in the US?

4. What are your feelings on the hesitance of young people to identify themselves as feminists/womanists? Do you think that this hesitance is reflective of ignorance/apathy, a response to feminisms of the past, or do you think it represents the desire for a different sort of unification outside of the heteronormative box?

5. How might young trans people work to educate their gbl non-trans peers about their needs within the community? Do you think that the division between gbl youth and trans youth is closing and if so, do you think that "queerness" has something to do with this?

6. Is it our place as the gbltqqsf community to deal with the issues of same-gender loving persons who do not self-identify as gbltqq? How might these individuals be helped (regarding support groups, medical treatment, hiv/aids, therapy, etc.) as it is difficult to gather any statistics on such a population?
