Picking up from where I left off
Jan. 22nd, 2007 12:00 pmI can’t think of a good segue back into this LJ blog, so I’ll just stumble in clumsily and start yakking.
It’s been about eight months since I posted here with any kind of frequency (holy crap!), and to tell the truth, I haven’t made much progress since then in terms of dealing with my gender issues. The only solid accomplishment I’ve made is the fact that I underwent a few laser hair-removal sessions – three, to be exact. My last one was in August or late July, I think. Then I got sidetracked and preoccupied with other stuff.
My plan now is to pick up from where I left off. The first step would be meeting again with the electrologist I consulted with back in February of last year, who recommended the laser treatment as an initial step before electro so that it would make my facial hair more docile, so to speak. I want her to reassess my situation, given the fact that I don’t like the idea of wasting my time and money (not to mention the pain) on laser if I can now switch course and work toward permanent removal instead, via electro.
I also plan to meet with a physician to discuss low-dose hormonal therapy. Funny, I planned on the same thing back in February of 2006, but never took action. Regardless, like I said back then, I am leaning toward low-dose HRT based on fears that anything stronger might largely extinguish my sex drive. I have no plans to fully transition to female, anyway. I merely want to curb or even perhaps reverse to some degree the biological effects of being male.
I’m taking some days off from work in the next week or two in order to take care of the matters I just mentioned.
Anyway, it’s good to see that a lot of the people whose LJ blogs I used to read are still around, and a few of those individuals have been making some measurable progress in terms of realizing their goals. Hopefully, I’ll be doing the same.
