Atlanta - The Transgender American Veterans Association plans to hold their 1st, 2007, Multi State Chapters Organizational Meeting on March 10, 2007, from 11am to 2pm in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Location of the meeting, will be at the MCC-Knoxville Church, 7820 Redeemer Lane, Knoxville, Tennessee. As a contact for directions and possible attendance, please call, (865) 525-5444. There will be refreshments available for purchase along with some food. There will be time to greet, meet and mingle before and after. Please make plans to attend, if you can.

Those of you who live in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee are welcome to attend. Anyone in other locations may attend also.

You don't have to be Transgender, LGBT <Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Trans), nor a veterans to attend or be involved. All one needs is a desire to help others. These prospective state chapters, along with our Charter Chapter in Knoxville, Tennessee are not strictly for Transgender American Veterans!

The main purpose of Charter Chapters will be, that of a statewide advocacy group are being formed to address the growing concerns of fair and equal treatment of transgender veterans and active duty service members. TAVA serves as an educational organization that will help the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense to better understand the individuals they encounter who identify as being different. As veterans, we have also served proudly, and will continue to do so. TAVA is here to help where we can.

The secondary purpose of state chapters, is due to what occurred during "Katrina" in Louisiana. They will help as advocates for those effected by a natural disaster, in getting the help they so deserve.
