Here's a question I haven't seen yet
Feb. 26th, 2007 11:23 pmRetirement planning. I admit that asking this reveals my ignorance of many things, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any potential pitfalls a transperson might have with retirement plans such as 401K, IRA, employee pensions, etc.
I mean, all this stuff is tied to a SSN, right? I've seen a few folks posting about name changes, gender changing on official documents (driver's license, passport) but if someone starts a retirement fund as a 25 year-old "John", will that person be able to withdraw the money as a retired "Jane"? It sure would suck to sock away a few hundred thousand dollars and never be able to spend it!
Pardon the use of generic names by the way.
