Applying for jobs
Apr. 9th, 2009 11:12 amI'm currently job hunting and I'm sitting here filling in an online application. Under the stuff they want info on but won't actually go to the people making a decision about who is selected, obviously gender comes up (or it does here in the UK, since in theory they can't discriminate based on gender, certainly on your job application, further down the road [shrugs]).
How did this company word the question - "What do you consider your gender to be?"
And it made me smile. You can mark unspecified (ie I don't want to give you an answer, or I can't in good faith choose either of the two options). With all the other crap out there, and despite it not being a perfect form to the question, someone in, or for, that company made some effort. And that made me smile.
And now I have to get back to finishing that application off.
