Health Questions
May. 27th, 2010 03:39 pmYesterday, my mother and I were talking about SRS again and she asked me what procedures I thought I might have done. I'd rather not have phalloplasty since I'm not comfortable with the risk of nerve damage or loss of sensation, however, I would still like to have a hysterectomy and oophorectomy. There are a couple questions I have for those of you who have already undergone these procedures and have been on T for a while.
1) Is it true that keeping my ovaries while on T might increase my chances of ovarian cancer? This is one of the main reasons why I plan on having them removed.
2) I am concerned about whether there is heavy blood loss during these procedures. I do not accept blood transfusions for health/religious reasons and I wondered if it would be wise to bank blood in advance of having the surgeries done.
Any and all information regarding these concerns would be greatly appreciated!
