Yesterday, my mother and I were talking about SRS again and she asked me what procedures I thought I might have done. I'd rather not have phalloplasty since I'm not comfortable with the risk of nerve damage or loss of sensation, however, I would still like to have a hysterectomy and oophorectomy. There are a couple questions I have for those of you who have already undergone these procedures and have been on T for a while.

1) Is it true that keeping my ovaries while on T might increase my chances of ovarian cancer? This is one of the main reasons why I plan on having them removed.

2) I am concerned about whether there is heavy blood loss during these procedures. I do not accept blood transfusions for health/religious reasons and I wondered if it would be wise to bank blood in advance of having the surgeries done.

Any and all information regarding these concerns would be greatly appreciated!

I've been given the following information which I am at liberty to share with the community. Dr Stuart Lorimer, familiar to many of us from his work at the Charing Cross GIC, is setting up a private practice in addition to his NHS work. He's currently looking at Saturday lunchtime slots, starting from July.

For more details, or to book an appointment, email to enquiries@gendercare.co.uk or phone 07899 929859. I understand there will be a website, but it's not live yet.

I am not affiliated with this practice, I merely pass this on for information purposes.
