I am a transgender. I am what they would identify me as a male. I was born a male, still a male to this day. Although I identify myself as a female, becuase I dont feel a male. I grew up obsessed with makeups, female clothings, even though my mother disaproved of it. I have no thoughts on changing my sex, becuase I feel that I accept my body as it was given to me, although it does not deny me that I am a female. I still can be a boy, and a girl at the same time. Though, it would be considered a taboo, but I dont care. So go Transgender!!!!!

Before I forget, I am now 23 year old gay transgender male from Michigan. If there is anyone from Michigan, I welcome your messages. Thanks toots!

I've been lurking for awhile, occasionally commenting, but never introduced myself.

My name is Jennifer, and I'm an MtF who has been on hormones for seven months now. I'm looking to get my name legally changed so I can get updated ID, and to going fulltime soon.

I've done a bit of reading on name change procedures in California, but it's a little out of date from what I've found. The DMV won't change your name unless it's legally changed first, now. (They'll still change your marker, if you have DL328 from a doctor)

Anyways, as near as I can tell, the procedure now seems to be to file NC-100 (Name Change) and related forms, then once that's finished, take my DL328 and name change order to the DMV and other offices. Once I've had surgery, I file NC-200 (Name and Gender Change) but leave my name the same, or I have an attorney petition a judge for just a gender change. This is kinda expensive, as it requires filing forms with the county twice (which is $314.50 for the name change, in my county)

Anyone here with recent experience changing their name in California? Am I missing something? Is it possible to file a Name and Gender Change before surgery, or does that need to wait until after SRS?

Thanks for any comments.

I have my daughter's permission to share this with you, she wrote it a bit over a year ago, when she was about 14 years old. She is [livejournal.com profile] bekaj3 and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter. Here is her poem.
TO MOM

Mom is a word,
Not a name.
Some people think,
They are the same.

Mom’s can be different,
Male or female.
Some people forget,
This detail.

I love you,
For who you are.
I love you always,
Near or far.
