This article is about choosing your baby's gender, which I think may increase difficulty in coming out and in being a part of society, as a trans person.

I don't know how anyone else feels. (also, note the misuse of gender in this article.)

If it doesn't apply, then feel free to delete.

I joined the community here a couple of months ago but haven't posted anything to the community itself yet so...

Hi.

My name is Lila and I'm an MTF transsexual about to start hormones here within the next 2 weeks. All my friends and family already know and are supportive with but two exceptions and I count myself quite lucky for that. Work doesn't know just yet but I work for a major bank who's policies on Transgendered people in the workplace are very friendly and my insurance through them specifically covers my eventual SRS. Again, I count myself very lucky. I'm 25 years old and have a wonderful wife who, though we've had some rocky patches here and there, is very supportive and encouraging. It helps that she's more of a man than I ever was which makes our relationship work fairly well. I'm not full time yet, but am about 70/30, the 30% being work (whom I don't want to tell till I plan to go full time, should be within the next 2 months) and when I have to go to my parents' (the two exceptions to those in support of my decision)

I'm happy to provide any opinions or advice when they are solicited but probably won't chime in when they are not. I usually post to my personal journal but will try and remember to occasionally post here to give updates and news when I find it.

OK, I've been out of work now for almost 2 years.

Today I have got two phone calls offering me two different interviews. Woohoo!

The trouble is the second interview is on the same day as I have an appointment with the Gender Clinic in Charing Cross!

I can get to the clinic after the interview, plenty of time for that. The trouble lies in the fact I won't be able to get there as Nicola. Just no time to change and I'll have to go as Nick!! Not really helping my arguement!

I really really wanted to go en-femme, not just to put my point across about what I wanted but also as a further step towards my vanilla life!

But then I can't attend this interview as Nicola because quite frankly I need a job and despite modern laws of equality I think it might act as the lever towards the NO! I have other issues to worry about first without giving them more ammunition against me!

So people, solutions! Please!

Damm it, life gives with one hand and takes it away with the other!

I would like to apologise for my last panicky message.

Thanks for all the words of advice and support!

I do tend to panic stupidly!

Let me clear a few things up.

I can't change the day, the Friday is the only day they are doing interviews before they wind down before Xmas so they graciously granted me the early appointment because of my appointment. They didn't ask any more then when the appoinment was for. Also I've been unemployed for almost two years and really need to find work.

Survival is almost on par with my trans issues (I hate the word "issues"! Makes it sound like a problem, don't it?) so both are equally important. I did phone up the clinic but they said I would need to wait until February for a re-booking!

As for my make-up problem I over exaggerated on the inch thick thing but I do need at least three layers because even the closest shave leaves shadow.

Also changing anywhere down the line will require me carrying more then I'd like when attending an interview!

And once again your right, the clinic is more understanding then the employer, so going as Nick won't be too much of a hardship I suppose. I guess if they see how uncomfortable I am as Nick then it might help!.

Thanks Peeps.
