So, I had posed this question to the community several months or over a year ago, about experiences with MTF hair re-growth with HRT. Now, at the time I was considering HRT and hadn't known what to expect. I had thinning of the hairline, creating a massive widow's peak with a tuft of hair in the middle that caused quite a lot of self-loathing. Though I have since experienced much regrowth in all areas of my hair, including the bald spots on either side of the front filling in with fine little baby hairs, half of which have turned in to thicker hairs which are now growing along side the rest. I'm kind of hoping others will share their hair-regrowth stories to provide some form of encouragement, because I'm hoping to go wigless sometime in the next couple of years.

I was also told by a former hairstylist that I should look in to products with Keratin in it. I'm looking at this website for interesting (and expensive looking) products and treatments called Keratin Complex Therapy. I'm curious if anyone has tried it, or knows of any other keratin-infused products that worked well for them.

Thank you!

It seems like each time I look through the tags, I either get some variation of the question I am asking but not *exact*. Also, maybe this could be due to not looking in the right tags... so I apologize if this is a question that has already been asked and please feel free to direct me to any previous posts relating to this issue.  I have tagged this post under 'insurance', fyi.

My question is, well, I am paying for short-term disability leave through my employer.  I also plan to have top surgery around May/June.  With this said, I brought up the idea of using my short-term disability to my HR department at work and they say that elective surgery is not covered under short-term disability.

Is this true?

I do not have BCBS (which is the primary medical insurance which my company offers) but I have taken advantage of quite a few benefits with hopes that I would be able to be covered, especially in situations like I mentioned above.

Otherwise, I don't have enough vacation time to allow myself the mandatory 10 day recovery period.

Any suggestions or input?

I also have a hearing problem so talking on the phone is very difficult- it gets quite discouraging to be told to contact certain phone numbers because ultimately, I have to rely on someone else to make the call for me and a) i'm either at work during that time, unable to permit discussion of my personal info or b) it is hard to find someone who is comfortable making such a phone call and/or knowing what to ask.
