So, today I wound up getting some of the greatest news of my academic life: the University of Memphis will accept my current undergrad degree. Now, that means that within the next year or so, I'll be looking at enrolling there for my M.A. and I know absolutley NOTHING about the city or the college as far as LGBT support. So my questions are these:

1) Is there anyone that lives in or near Memphis, TN that could tell me what to expect as far as the LGBT "community" is concerned? Are there support groups I could get in touch with or resources I should know about?

2) Is there anyone that's attended the University of Memphis during or after transition? If so, did you run into any problems with housing, discrimination, etc?

For the record, I am VERY out about being trans and I don't plan on going stealth at all if that makes any difference.

Any information at all would be of great help!

So, I just moved to Massachusetts and I plan on trying to start my hormones through Fenway. However, to get the help with the paperwork I have to drive to Boston (three hours away). I saw somewhere that you can apply online and I am pretty sure I can apply for Plan 1 for the low income health insurance (unemployeed, no family and the only person in the house with a job makes 15,000/yr)
