Hi, everybody... I've got a kind of stupid question, but I've been having difficulty in finding a definitive answer, and I figured if one DID exist, people here might be more likely to be aware of it.
As a young'un I did two things that I now, for the most part, wish I hadn't ever done:
1) Play soccer a lot for years
2) Spend a year or so when I was, like, TEN, lifting weights idly (I had no idea what I was doing), for reasons that I am absolutely clueless to (I need to get to know my pre-teen self much better). Also, I took weight-lifting gym in highschool a few times to avoid the masculine chaos of regular gym - at least in weight gym, you could sit by yourself and do what you chose to do
As a result of these activities and my masculine body's delight in creating muscle mass, I have pretty muscular thighs/calves (from the soccer), and not-insignificant biceps/triceps/chest. They're nothing astounding, but they're most definitely visible when exposed, and, well, it's kind of upsetting, for various (probably bad) reasons.
Which brings me to my question -
Is there ANY way whatsoever that anybody knows of reducing muscle mass (apart from HRT)?
I mean, the obvious answer is to stop exercising the muscles - however, I stopped soccer/weightlifting years ago, but the muscles remain...
The only other answer I can think of is to reduce caloric intake in an attempt to force the body to break down the muscle (there isn't much fat left to break down). This seems to be supported by some things I've read (here and here for example, although these are coming from a stance of avoiding muscle loss, and not explicitly addressing my issue). However, I'm a) not sure if it would really work, and b) not sure how safe/healthy of an idea it is. Basically, it would be dieting to lose muscle, as opposed to fat. It would seem like the idea would be to reduce caloric intake, and perhaps lean towards fat over protein when composing this intake... But I am most definitely no dietician, and not even very aware of basic biology, sooo, I don't trust any of this hypothesizing >_<
So, if any of this is horribly wrong, or if there's some much better method of getting rid of unsightly muscle mass, I would greatly greatly appreciate it if anyone out there could enlighten me :)
Thanks a billion for reading :)
