Gym time

So in a little under a year I'm getting married, and I want to look good in a dress. I'm not thick by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a little toning that can be done around the mid section. And a little exercise is just good anyway, especially during the winter months to help stave off cabin fever, depression, it's goog for you, blah blah blah, etc. etc. etc. So the question is this. Are there any nation gym chains that are trans friendly or any local Nashville gyms that are trans friendly, specifically MtF friendly?

Does anyone have any experience of getting properly fit post-operatively they'd be willing to share? I'm trying to get fit again for the first time in nearly 4 years - I'm currently almost exactly 2 years post-op. However, I'm finding it much, much harder than before and quite significantly more than could be explained by age and differeing Gender. 3 years ago I was able to run a mile and a half (2.4km) in just under 11 minutes without too much difficulty but now I'm struggling to get my time consistently under 16 minutes. (A woman my age should eaisly be able to get that time to 13 minutes or less) It this an inevitable result of transition and lack of testosterone compared to cis-gendered women or just some problem specific to myself?

I’m into martial arts, and I’m almost to my brown belt. At the same time, my HRT is just starting to have a real effect. Still, I’m not anticipating being out anytime soon if at all (though I’ve heard that it gets awkward, and this is probably an excellent example of that).

Nonetheless, I believe I’m going to have to tell my instructor sometime this year. Last night we were doing ground fighting escapes. Between that sort of thing, throws onto the carpet, and sparring, my chest gets pretty sore. Let’s face it, the estradiol makes my chest hurt, so any pressure causes pain.

I also have the disadvantage of loosing upper body strength, but since we do some strength training, it may show as my strength not increasing. That may be perplexing to the instructors who keep track. I haven't noticed it much yet, but everything I've seen on the net says that there is a reduction in upper body muscle/mass leading to decreased strength (which is just fine with me!). So I'm anticipating it.

Finally, as I develop more, it will become more noticeable even through a UnderArmour compression shirt and a do bahk (uniform). Two days out of the week are focused on throws and ground fighting, both of which require a fair amount of body contact.

My instructors are really cool, and one of the assistant instructors is a lesbian. So it’s not like they aren’t okay with people’s lifestyle, but a lot of people have problems with crossing gender lines.

Has anyone dealt with this? When have you told your instructor? What about the class? Has there been any bad reactions?

I’m worried that people would start to freak out with the close contact if they knew or could tell.

I am 15 years old am I'm FTM, and at this point in my life I don't have any way to afford hormones, surgery, special binders, etc. Are there any workouts or excersizes that I could do to make my body look a little more masculine?

Okay, so the title of this post is a play on words, but this is about fitness, girl-style. I read a post just now about some fitness issues and looking feminine, but I wanted to ask my own questions in a new post.
So here's the thing.
I always worry that if I exercise, I will build muscle and I will lose fat. Isn't the distribution of fat to the right places, something we are all desperate for? And I am still waiting on my upper arm muscles to wither away and not be so visible.
Yet many natural women go to the gym to look good, and they don't look less feminine for it, but I don't know how it would affect me. Will the muscles I develop look feminine? Will my figure suffer from lack of padding?
So what am I thinking about wrongly here? I feel like exercise will build up the wrong body elements, and reduce the wrong ones too. Yet people tell me to exercise and work on my legs and rear so they look good.
Arg! Can someone help me figure this out??

Ok, today I had an appointment at my local fitness center to appraise where I am going with my fitness regime and what I could do to accomplish any goals that I had. Well, it really hit me hard when the lady first off noticed my nails and was semi-jealous because her nails weren't nearly as nice. I just sort of laughed it off and shared all of my information with her. One thing that I wish that I had been able to see were my measurements (since it has been a while since I measured myself and wanted an updated reference for my shopping pleasures). The most ironic thing happened though.

We went over to her desk and all of my attention was on her and she just asked, "What would you like help on in achieving your goals?"

I sat there dumbfounded because my first reaction was, "Well, how can you make me more feminine looking?" LOL. I didn't state that but that was my first thought. Needless to say, I wanted to ask her definite questions in regards to the interaction of hormones on working out, what are ways that I can stay fit during the process, and just fitness/ gender oriented questions. Finally, I backed away because it was in a public place and just said that I was not into mass building and was more interested in flexibility and being cut. :P OMG, I just realized the significance of that statement. So, maybe eventually when I do start my hormones I will talk to her again, but I am just afraid of the impression that I would give people to out myself to a gym setup like that. Well, I just wanted to post this and also, if anyone has any suggestions for staying fit while transitioning, I would really enjoy hearing about it or any advice on what I should work on to maintain more of a feminine appearance.

I'm curiouos out there how many ladies have continued to be active in some form of team sport you may have prior to transition or those who were "gym rats" prior to transition and have continued to be so. What changes have you noticed? Did you have to leave your sport? Did you have to change gyms? I'm very curious as I'm getting close to having to face these issues. I know when it comes time, my sports career at least in the area will be done. As for the gym, I'm not so sure. I do enjoy going though. Anyway...I was curious as to others experiences...

Hi, everybody... I've got a kind of stupid question, but I've been having difficulty in finding a definitive answer, and I figured if one DID exist, people here might be more likely to be aware of it.

As a young'un I did two things that I now, for the most part, wish I hadn't ever done:

1) Play soccer a lot for years
2) Spend a year or so when I was, like, TEN, lifting weights idly (I had no idea what I was doing), for reasons that I am absolutely clueless to (I need to get to know my pre-teen self much better). Also, I took weight-lifting gym in highschool a few times to avoid the masculine chaos of regular gym - at least in weight gym, you could sit by yourself and do what you chose to do

As a result of these activities and my masculine body's delight in creating muscle mass, I have pretty muscular thighs/calves (from the soccer), and not-insignificant biceps/triceps/chest. They're nothing astounding, but they're most definitely visible when exposed, and, well, it's kind of upsetting, for various (probably bad) reasons.

Which brings me to my question -

Is there ANY way whatsoever that anybody knows of reducing muscle mass (apart from HRT)? )

Thanks a billion for reading :)
<3 peace
