I've got a job at a local music venue and I love it. I work first shift security on weekdays (7am to 3pm Monday to Friday) and get to work any of the shows I want to, so I get lots of hours to keep me busy. When I applied, I used my obviously female name since that's the one that's legal currently. I showed up for the interview in a shirt and tie and, after being told I'd gotten the job, explained that I go by Dustin (but not being trans). Everyone was really cool and they even made sure my name badge/time card said Dustin.

Yesterday, I worked 17 hours doing security and then the Allman Brothers show. All of the staff (maintenance, managers, and general staff) know who I am and know me as Dustin. I made the mistake, however, of telling the FedEx guy my female name the first day I worked. Second shift security showed up early yesterday so he could pick up more hours and had to hang out with me for awhile. He was practically standing on top of me until he got his assignment, so he happened to hear the FedEx man say my name to himself while typing it in as I signed for the packages. Later, one of the maintenance guys said that second shift (Andrew) told him about the two-names thing and that he'd always assumed I was a dude (and, of course, he happened to do this in front of 2 other guys who were working with me at the time).

Obviously I should say something to second shift (and /maybe/ the FedEx guy), but my concern is also that most of the management that works with me on a daily basis uses female pronouns and, as a result, some of the supervisors and general staff are starting to pick up on it. How do you recommend handling pronoun issues in a work environment that has lots of employees who all get to know eachother? Hearing 'she' is starting to bug me and this has caused lots of restroom confusion for me when I'm working. Should I talk to my supervisor or the GM or the manager who hired me and get them to encourage male pronouns by correcting people? Would it be better to talk to one/all of the above and then put out a letter in the box with the time clock so that everyone reads it? Any recommendations are welcome...
