So, guess what I was told today... I'll fill in the background for a moment while you try to guess.

The day after my name change, I sent out my (attempt at an) application to have the gender marker on my driver's license changed. Two weeks later -- the amount of time I was informed it usually takes by mail -- I hadn't heard anything. I emailed a couple of times. I call and at best I get a voice mail. Two weeks later someone replies to my email saying my application was incomplete and has been mailed back.  A couple of days later my documents arrive.

I add the documents they need for a complete application, and give them a call to ask who I would have to get an appointment with to get it taken care of in person. They tell me that a meeting in person isn't necessary, that I should fax it in and it will have a one-day turnaround. I fax it. A couple of weeks go by and I'm getting nothing out of them on my phone calls. They say it's in the assistant director's office and there's nothing they can do, I just need to wait until they look at it.

Today, a month after I sent in my complete application, I call again and here's what I get:

"Well I'm sorry, but the policy is under review right now. As soon as a decision is reached we will let everybody know our answer." Emphasis is mine. She tells me there's a stack of applications pending.

So, they've been telling me there's a one day turnaround, that the assistant director will look over the application soon, and now that the policy is in question and no one is getting their applications looked at.

Any other WA transpersons having a problem with this right now, or am I getting lied to for no clear reason?
