Hi! Here are the results so far of The Glennie Glendas, the all-transgender indie cover band, w/ some originals.

We want more members! (We could be the G/G Arkestra!). Please post and tell us what you play (or would like to learn to play) as well as song suggestions ...

The Glennie Glendas All Star Line-Up (thusfar):

pylonian -- lead guitar
sermoa --keyboards, saxophone, vocals :-)
psytntist -- drums, bass
millarose -- vocals, tambourine

We are open to a lot different styles, because lord knows we know about people being narrow-minded. Indie can mean
a lot of things.

As for actual tunes we might write, here are some possible song titles:

"The End of Hetero-Gender Indie Elitism As We Know It" (This song is dedicated to people who feel excluded by so-called "punks" and "radicals" who are so hip that they form closed "circles" and diss folks who don't use the right lingo).

"Trannies of the World, Unite!"

"Bitch Goddess"

"Boyz Rule"

"Goodbye, Kitty"

"(We Know What) People Like" (with props to The Waitresses)

"I Shot Belle and Sebastian, and I'd Do it Again" (Fruesen Gladje remix)

"Suck My Left Clitina" (with props to Kathleen Hanna! b/c one of their members IS trans!!)

Covers:

"Androgyny" -- Garbage

A haunting polka version of Bauhaus's "Bella Lugosi's Dead"

A rousing version of Toto's, "Hold the Line, Love isn't Always On Time" (with full piano!)

Fugazi, "Repeater" and "Long Division"

Sonic Youth, "Androgynous Mind" and "Beauty Lies in the Eye"

Muddy Waters, "Mannish Man"

Bettie Serveert, "Palomine"

Steve Winwood, "Arc of a Diver"

Liz Phair, "Mesmerizing" and "Divorce Song"

Marc Eitzel, "It's Your Birthday" (a song about a transperson!)

The Spinanes, "Leo, Jonah, and Me"

I was wondering how the recent changes in requirements to update driver's licenses in Indiana will affect people hoping to change gender on their license? I think that now we have to bring in our birth certificate, 2 other forms of ID and proof of residency... something along those lines. Thoughts?

And does anyone know whether or not Indiana is a state which allows for changes to birth certificate gender?

Safe Home Volunteers needed

The Network/La Red: Ending abuse in lesbian bisexual women's and transgender communities’s Safe Home Network is a network of volunteer homes that addresses the needs of lesbian, bisexual women, and transgender folks fleeing abusive partners.

Safe Homes provide 1-14 nights stay to allow L/B/T folks breathing space and time in order to develop the best plan for where to go next. For some, that plan is to find long-term shelter, for others it is to move into permanent housing, and for still others it is to return home. The time provided by safe home stay allows guests the space, support and power to decide what's best for them.
