My girlfriend took me out on a date lastnight, she paid for everything. it felt so wonderful. She really made me fell good, even though I was really shy while we were at the sushi bar. We ha dplanned to go to a dance but when we got there and checked it out, it was not what we thought it was gonna be (It was kinda crap). So we went and saw "House of flying daggers" which I had wanted to see. We ended up having this huge theater all to ourselves. We sorta had a Mystery science theater thing going and we had a blast. Once we got back to my house we stripped jumped into bed to warm up and passed out for almost 5 hours before my gf went home. We're both so exhausted (I had been up and at work since 5 am that morning). Well I guess pictures are probly desired so here you go.

There was an op-ed in the (Wash.) Post this morning about the issue of elementary school kids being exposed to information about transgendered folks. It was a supportive bit referring back to another op-ed which questioned whether elem. was too young to explain how sometimes men can have babies. To put it mildly, this took me by surprise. It's brought up in school?

For simplicity's sake I'll say I grew up in a cave... a military brat kind of cave. I went to military schools-- overseas, where if you live on base, there are still monthly lawn contests. Don't get me wrong, I'm firmly of the opinion that there's nothing black-and-white about gender in the military or the brat communities, but in the small bases I was at, really explicit deviance would earn you a note, not to mom or dad but to their boss, who may or may not have relocated/discharged your sponsor. So I'm a latecomer to the communities, to the idea that there are communities, and generally to the whole idea that the stuff that's been in my head for as long as I can remember isn't just in MY head.

This may be unusual, even among brats, so I was wondering- does it really get mentioned/dealt with in school? (Take 'it' to mean whatever fits your cup of alphabet soup- lgbt, is, ts, tg, gq...)

I was watching Free Speech TV a couple days ago and they had a short interview with a young transboy-of-color called "Saul Speaks" (I think). One of the things he was talking about was the lack of groups for trans people of color, even in the queer-people-of-color organizations. Googling seems to find several organizations, however. I have noticed a lack of color in quite a few left-wing / progressive / gay-rights organizations and I can certainly understand his frustration, especially of the lack of representation of transmen-of-color since transmen seem to often be underrepresented in more traditionally-organized groups and clubs.

What have been your experiences with race in the trans community? Is it a problem? If it is, how can we encourage more people-of-color to organize?

I've been reading up on legal name changes, and my big question is, do they ask you why? If so, do you respond with, "Because I'm a transsexual"? I have a feeling this could be more gracefully worded...
