As of Thursday April 26 at 5pm I have started MtoF hormone therapy.

I went to my new Dr. today to begin pre-screening for hormone therapy that was scheduled to begin June 7th. We went over what options I had for hormones, which I thought was so that I can do research on the different hormones, and at the end of the exam he said that my new meds should be ready in the pharmacy after I do my blood tests!!!!

So, now I am taking:
25mg Spironolactone, 1 tab twice daily
Climara 0.1mg/day patches- 1 patch every three days.

hello, my name is jessica, and im new here. i am looking forward to meeting all of you!

i just wanted to give my little opinion on the 20/20 special...

i think that barbara walters did a pretty good job of embracing each child for who they are and tried her best to avoid negativity in front of them. my problem was more with the parents.... which is hard, because who am i to judge, when i do not have a trans child? they are experiencing it from a different place then a trans person or a person who is more educated about the subject. however, i dont see why they need to tell anyone their childs BIOLOGICAL gender. who the fuck cares? for the 2nd story, why don't they change her school? that precious little girl is going to do somthing drastic if they dont get her into a safer environment. if the children didnt know what was between her legs, then they wouldnt tease her. she is a girl, so let her live as a girl. give her a new beginning. also for little jazz, why must they tell her friends that she was born with a penis?

i guess, all in all, they are trying their best. i just cant wait until our society is a little more educated.

thanks for reading.

I'll be the first to bite...

I saw it earlier tonight, although I didn't see all of the MSNBC program a few nights ago. So I can't really compare them.
It was good and bad, as usual.
The families picked did send the message that you have to love your children for who they are. I'm glad a person unfamiliar with GID would hear that. That hit a little too hard for comfort, as my own mom told me she did not have unconditional love for me. Just like at a PFLAG conference I went to, I'm just blown away by such supportive families. They had a throw-away line in the show; that not all families are so supportive. Obviously it would be tough to get a non-supportive family on TV to show exactly what that means for many trans folk.
And it was hosted by Barbara Walters, so I knew I was going to wince. You know she was going to make someone cry at some point.
