Heads Up UK People: Repeat Dispensing
Mar. 23rd, 2010 01:01 pmThis may be old knowledge, but I didn't know about it so some others might not too. I don't know if this is country-wide - it may just be in England, but if your PCT is one of those annoying ones that doesn't do 3 month prescriptions for HRT (do they think they're going to grow back?), and you're sick of the rigmarole of having to handle repeat prescriptions, even if your pharmacy handles them, read on.
My GP put me on something called Repeat Dispensing today. Basically, they write out a year's supply of repeat prescriptions at once, but time-delayed, and then give them all to you at once. You then take them to the pharmacy and they dispense the first one as normal, and keep the rest on file.
28 (or however long yours lasts) days later, you go back into the pharmacy and ask for the next one. They give you the drugs there and then, with no need to contact you GP to get the repeat signed off.
When your year's supply runs out, go and see you GP again and they'll give you another 12 months worth.
Thought this might be useful info.
